The FLL is a hands-on robotics program developed by the LEGO Group and U.S.-based nonprofit organization FIRST (For Inspiration and (Recognition of Science and Technology).

Each September, FLL teams (children and teenagers aged 10 to 16) across the world take on a challenge to strategize, design, build, program, test and refine a fully autonomous robot capable of completing the various tasks using the LEGO MINDSTORMS technology. At the end of the eight-week design and build period, the teams compete in tournaments against other regional teams.

The vision of FIRST LEGO League is to:

  • Open children’s eyes for the fun and excitement of science and technology
  • Develop children’s ability to work in teams
  • Stimulate children’s use of creativity in the problem solving process

Climate Connections - Building A Global Game Plan

The "winds of change are blowing" and with them comes FLL's 2008 Climate Connections Challenge! Join us as we explore why many experts believe the earth's climate is changing and how these changes impact you and our planet. The causes, contributions, and consequences are all interconnected and the experts are telling us to "think globally - act locally." People, resources, and local actions need to be united to establish a global game plan. Do FLL teams have what it takes to make these global Climate Connections?
